Francesco Guido Mangano

Dr. Francesco Mangano was born in 1979 in Gravedona, Lake of Como, Italy. He graduated at the University of Milan in 2003 (110/110 cum laude).

After graduation, he devoted his attention to Implant Dentistry, attending the Post-Graduate Program in Oral Implantology and Bone Regeneration (2008- 2010) of the Oral Implantology Clinic, Department of Periodontology, Dental Research Division, Guarulhos University, Sao Paulo (Brazil), where he became Clinical Instructor.

After this experience, he worked for the University of Varese (2012- 2017) as Clinical Instructor and Lecturer, focusing his attention to Implant Prosthodontics and Digital Dentistry. At the University of Varese, he founded the first-in-the-world 2-year Master in Digital Dentistry, working as Scientific Coordinator for 6 years (2013- 2018). In 2016, he completed his PhD in Biotechnologies, Biosciences and Surgical Techniques, at the Department of Surgical and Morphological Sciences, University of Varese (Italy).

From 2018, he left the University of Varese as he became Associate Professor and Lecturer in Digital Dentistry, at the Sechenov First State Medical University of Moscow (Russia).

In 2024, he received the Doctor Honoris Causa award from the prestigious Semmelweiss University, Budapest (Hungary).

In the years 2017-2020, he has served as Section Editor for the Digital Dentistry Section of BMC Oral Health, a Springer Nature Journal (Q1, Indexed Pubmed and Scopus). Thanks to this new section, in which about 100 scientific articles have been published over a 4 year period, the Journal’s impact factor (IF) has doubled (from 1.0 to 2.0); in addition, some of the articles authored by Dr. Francesco Mangano have been among the most appreciated, downloaded and cited throughout the history of the Journal.

Currently, Dr. Francesco Mangano is Editor for the Digital Dentistry Section of the prestigious Journal of Dentistry, an Elsevier Journal (Q1, indexed Pubmed and Scopus, IF 5.8, Citescore 7.8) and Editor in Chief of the novel Digital Dentistry Journal (indexed Scopus) from Elsevier; in addition, he is in the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Prosthodontics, of the Journal of Dental Research, Dental Clinics, Dental Prospects, and he works as Reviewer for the most important international, peer-reviewed dental journals with high impact factor. Dr. Francesco Mangano also founded and launched the DDS MAG, the official Magazine of the Digital Dentistry Society, serving as Editor from 2023 to 2025.

He is Founder, Past President (2024- 2025) and Active Member of the International Digital Dentistry Society (DDS), and Member of AIOP (Italian Association of Prosthetic Dentistry).

He is author of 175 scientific publications indexed in Pubmed, and published on international peer-reviewed Journals with high impact factor. His bibliometric indexes are: H index 65 (Google Scholar), 50 (Scopus). He also co-authored five books on digital and implant dentistry.

In 2020, he founded the Mangano Digital Academy, an independent academy that aims to spread the use of digital technologies in dentistry, through the innovative #zeromicrons concept, delivered also through the Osteocom platform, in italian and in english. Additionally, from 2019 to 2025, he worked as Editor for the italian journal Infodent.

He is in private practice in Gravedona, Lake of Como, Italy, at the Studio Odontoiatrico Mangano, together with Prof. Carlo Mangano, his uncle and mentor.
